NASA gets in on social media branding with clever GIFs

Much like Obama’s domination of social media to smash home a win in 2008, NASA has embraced the GIF phenomenon to spread a higher awareness of the NASA brand.

With Giphy and Pinterest, NASA is putting up clever GIF animations which can be embedded in forums and on Facebook.

There are quite a few stinkers in the collection, but many of them are hypnotic and a joy to watch, even if you’re not quite sure what it is you’re looking at.

There are a total of 450 uploaded so far, and many more to come as NASA gets in on the social media boom.
