In the beginning, I was willing to give JiaYu / JaiYu the benefit of the doubt. Small company trying to produce a great phone at a great price. However, it’s time to conclude that at this point in time they aren’t worthy of consideration of your hard-earned dollar.
They haven’t properly produced the long-touted G3 and already they’re onto releasing the G2S, taking votes on G4 features, and now they’ve taken a vote on if they should make a JiaYu / JaiYu G3 with TD-SCDMA. Wait… What? Where is the regular G3 you’ve been talking about for 6 months? JiaYu / JaiYu is long on hype and short on making good on it. Taking votes and public opinion means nothing if they can’t properly release the product.
Okay, enough of the griping. The proposed JiaYu G3 with TD-SCDMA will feature MTK MT6517 / MTK6517 as opposed to MTK6577. All other features remain the same. Assuming this phone actually comes out, this is good for those in China, but useless for anybody outside.
Even if inside China, it has been extremely difficult to get hands on the virtually mythical JiaYu / JaiYu G3. They’ve also had LCD issues with some of the few batches released. Getting warranty support will likely to prove difficult if not impossible should you be one of the lucky few. GizBeat’s recommendation is to move on and choose something else.
