As promised, Xiaomi Mi A1 will be receiving Android 8 Oreo. The beta has already been pushed out to testers.
Reportedly, in addition to the version update, the update will also speed up the fingerprint security sensor and make some adjustments to the dual-SIM setup.
While the current Xiaomi Mi A1 Oreo update is only for beta testers, the Global Stable is set to come out before the end of 2017.
I can’t say enough about this union between Google and Xiaomi. It is simply huge for Xiaomi. If you like Pure AOSP Android and Xiaomi, you can now have your cake and eat it too. If you prefer MIUI, the Redmi 5X is the same phone as Mi A1 but with MIUI 9.
Though I might be getting ahead of myself, I also expect Mi A1 to receive Android 9. This isn’t to do with Xiaomi, but with Google. The Android One program has just been re-launched and I’m sure Google is eager to see it succeed.
