Zopo To Release New 3D Model! (AKA – Is 3D Just a Gimmick?)

ZOPO-ZP600-MTK6577-MTK6588-ANDROID-3DI’ve always said that Zopo carries a very nice line that should appeal to a wide audience. They use top-notch cameras, and the LCDs they use include 3D displays, high-end TFT, IPS and Sharp ASV.

Now they’ll be widening their selection a bit with the ZP600 Libero. The ZP500 Libero is a great looking phone, and this is a phone I’d have purchased if it was 1GB. I was surprised they didn’t upgrade it to 1GB when the ZP500 updated to ZP500+.

The ZP600 will carry the “Libero” name and similar squarish look with slightly rounded corners. I’ve always appreciated the square look. The more square the better.

Though the Libero will finally 1GB, my opinion is held in check regarding 3D technology. For the most part I believe it’s a gimmick, but the wow factor for showing your buddies and prospective female dates you’d like to get in the sack, might just make it an interesting enough option to take the plunge. More 3D content is being created all the time as well – from games to 3D YouTube videos.

From what I’ve seen of the ZP600, it only has one rear camera, so half the fun is out the window because you won’t be able to create and view your own 3D content – unless of course you create it on a different, capable device and view it on the ZP600.

The Zopo ZP600 will carry a Sharp 4.3″ 960*540 ASV 3D LCD, 2MP/8MP front camera, MTK MT6577 / MTK6577, the much awaited 1GB RAM, 4GB ROM and a relatively small 1640mA battery.

It’s just a hunch, but don’t be surprised to see the Zopo ZP600 update to ZP600+ with MTK6588 / MTK6589 in Q1 or Q2 2013.

there‘s a thing that keeps buggin my mind. how come a mtk6577 can support a 1080p with 3d graphic while basically specs of the cpu itself did not support that ability? is there somewhat ways that manufacture could stretch the limitation of the cpu ability?

The CPU MT6577 supports screen resolution up to 720 x 1080. The CPU limitation is for playing video in full hd 1920×1080.

Hello Chris, though the MTK6577 obviously is being used for 720p with acceptable performance, this chipset officially only supports up to 960*540 LCD resolution – not 720p.
