JiaYu Releases Official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Beta!

Daring owners of the JiaYu G3, JiaYu G2 MTK6575 and JiaYu G2 MTK6577 now have a new ROM to play with. Though news was widely spread regarding Jelly Bean for JiaYu G2 MTK6575, the news regarding Jelly Bean version for  JiaYu G2 MTK6577 has been somehow not quite so loud – perhaps because the MTK6575 version came out first.

There were previously some ported versions, however this is the first official one from JiaYu. Remember it’s still in beta, though early reports suggest it’s stable.

Dear Damian, does android 4.1 a.k.a Jelly Bean bugs also affected the china smartphone product? Because reports at some gadget forum it really start to bug me. Are there any reports from smartphone users complaining about these bugs? As a reminder what kind of bug are they, here‘s some that I found on the net : battery drainage, random booting, UI glitches, long time charging issues, broken down connection on bluetooth and wifi, sudden brightness caused by autobrightnes function, time delay saving pictures after taking it through camera, sudden crash while running apps and missing month of december on calender app.

Hey Ari – I tried to follow the thread in the Chinese forums with the new G2 Beta, but they are ridiculously long because of the strange Chinese custom of forcing a user to post before they have access to the download link. Thus the real situation is buried in literally hundreds and hundreds of pages of nonsense. In what I did read, I didn’t see any complaints and usually a few will turn up throughout the pages if there’s some problems.

As to your question, I think it’s normal for the beta ROMs to have some glitches – but this is definitely not a China phone only issue. OS’ in general will have some strange random bugs, even from the likes of the big boys. Google “bluetooth not working galaxy s2” for a little taste. The bargain China brands often have an issue with quality control though, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see the glitches in new ROMs outweigh the glitches in the more quality control oriented brands.

Dear Damian, if that OS bugs starting to show on china smartphone as well then it will be huge problem for them and future buyer. It will definitely causing prospect buyer to postpone or delay their intentions to upgrade. I‘m too having a second thought about upgrading my smartphone into android 4.1 or 4.2. So my safest choice right now is stick to the android 4.0. I‘m guessing these bugs won‘t solved in near time. Probably android 3.0 case bugs is start all over again. Perhaps we‘re all should have to wait for android 5.0?

Sorry if my comment was misunderstood… I meant all OS’…Not just Jelly Bean, and not just Android. I think Jelly Bean itself is fine, it’s a question of how well the manufacturers adjust it to their models. Also remember this is a beta ROM…It’s expected to have glitches. If you’re concerned about updating, just make a backup of your stock ROM before going ahead.
