MT6592 SoC Xiaomi Red Rice Hongmi 2 Review Specifications!

In December 2013, Xiaomi released the Red Rice Hongmi phone with MT6589T SoC. This was big for Xiaomi and MTK since it was their first cooperation.

It appears they’ll be continuing with MediaTek and will be releasing an MT6592 Xiaomi Red Rice Hongmi. So far dubbed simply – Xiaomi Red Rice Hongmi 2. The phone is to be unveiled April 2014, but may not be available for purchase until June 2014.

The Red Rice 2 will have a 5.5″ LCD@720 and an outstanding price of 799 yuan. Though by June, that price may not look as good as it looks now, as we will be half a year into MT6592 offerings and phone prices with the MTK6592 SoC will have dropped substantially.

What’s very interesting here is the 720p LCD. We believe 720p is crisp enough for 5.5″, and the performance with Mali-450 MP4 should be outstanding combined with a 720p LCD. It should be noted though, that we are very far away from a release date for Xiaomi Red Rice 2, so specs may change by the time the phone is released.
