THL W200S Review Pictures!

small-thl_w200_c2After doing a preview, an unboxing and a final review of the THL W200S it’s now time for photos. Here’s some images from the THL W200S taken at around 16.00. The pictures are untouched other than reducing their size. For 1024 and the full 5mp pictures, take a look at the bottom of the post for the forum link.

These pictures came out very well. Easily more than fine for electric sharing and possibly even for decent sized prints. See this thread in the forum for a comparison of the THL W200S and THL T200C photos in 1024 and to download the pictures in full 5mp glory.

Hello, the camera is interpolated 13mp and 5mp normal. What does it mean and how it affects the quality of the pictures/videos? The pictures above seems nice though. If my this doubt is clear I am going to get this phone. Waiting for reply.

The THL W200S camera is normally advertised as 8.0mp. Regardless of what the truth is (5mp or 8mp), this will make no difference at all unless you’re printing or doing big crops. A 1920*1080 screen or a 4×6 300dpi print will not show any difference in quality after 2mp. Obviously if you are printing larger, showing larger images or cropping, then the dynamic changes.

To give you an idea, I used to work as a photographer selling 8×10 photos taken with 3-5mp cameras and they came out fine. Even when cropped. Your typical Facebook pic is 800×600 or less than that (about .5mp). When you share pics in emails or on the web, you generally don’t want to send/share anything bigger than 1mp.

How many MP a camera is the last thing I worry about and generally I take my pics at 1mp. Take a look at this pic at http://www.chinaphonearena.com.

Thanks for the info. But question here is some websites mention it as “5 Megapixel Front-Facing Camera (Interpolation 13MP) + 8 Megapixel Rear Camera (Interpolation 13MP)”. So what does they refer to when they mention Interpolation? Thanks.

Well the information I wrote above still stands regarding MP and is the most important factors when considering MP. You didn’t mention front or rear camera in your first comment. Normally people are more concerned about rear camera quality. Interpolation means up-scaling a photo through software. The result is the same as if you took an 8mp picture and made it 13mp in Photoshop. It wouldn’t be a true 13mp photo. It’s using a process to duplicate and infer from already existing pixels to make the image larger. In terms of actual use, it’s fairly useless and can actually make photo quality worse when you interpolate.
