MT6595 GPU Confirmed! Exclusive Flowchart Data From MediaTek

Gizbeat has come across some official MTK flowcharts exhibiting a bit about how MTK6595 big.LITTLE will work. The technology which will govern the CPUs is called CorePilot.

The SoC everyone has been waiting for – MT6595 is scheduled to arrive in large volume in August 2014. The MT6595 will have an ARM Cortex-A17 CPU working in big.LITTLE configuration with Cortex-A7 and PowerVR G6200 GPU@600MHz.

The PowerVR G6200 will support OpenGL ES2.0/3.0 & DirectX10. The SoC will also have enough juice to smoothly playback H.265 UHD 4k video.

Beyond the exciting prospect of big.LITTLE, the big thing many are waiting for is LTE/4g. MT6595 promises modem compatibility with TD-LTE, FDD-LTE, HSPA+, TD-SCDMA and EDGE/GPRS.review-mt6595

The MT6595 SoC will support USB3.0, eMMC 5.0 and dual channel DDR3 memory.

Prior to the high volume release in August, there will be a mega news conference this month on the 15th. Though the volume release will not happen until August, first phones with MT6595 are expected to come this month.

Great finally there is some more info about the release.

I was just wondering, how good the PowerVR G6200 is compared to other high end GPU’S
Will it play all the high-end games from Playstore, including high-end settings ??

Going by the numbers, it should play most games at high settings at acceptable frame rates. Note – I say should.

The Mali-450MP4 in MT6592 are capable of about 58Gflops maximum and that is assuming the game is optimized to use all 4 cores (14.8 per core).

The PowerVR G6200 is capable of 115Gflops. This is double current MT6592 GPU capabilities. Though consider resolution will have a part to play as well.

Comparatively, the Adreno 330 in Snapdragon 800 is capable of 129Gflops, so in MT6595, we will be getting about what the Galaxy S4 can push.

the GFlops rate you’r talking about are confirmed?

Galaxy s5,right? Mtk6592 is almost fast like galaxy s4 (ok, not so fast)… I can’t believe the 6595 will be compared to s4.

S4. Mali-450MP4 is not nearly as powerful as S4. Please see above regarding GFlops. Yes, GFlops is not the end-all-be-all, but it is a fair estimation of power.

MT6595 is a budget SoC. Using a GPU that nearly matches Snapdragon 800, and doubles the previous SoCs GPU released only 6 months ago in terms of GFlops is fairly generous.

Chinese brands with snapdragon 801 and adreno 330 cost now around 400$ the same price comes MTK6595M with Rogue G6200 and snapdragon is faster if dont reduce price dont stand a chance.

MT6595 is just barely out the gate. I will be very surprised if most MT6595 SoC phones will be priced above $350. Most likely they will be in the $250-300, if not cheaper.

Currently i own a thl with MTK6592W and my gf have an old MTK 6589 in six months i will buy a new one i am waiting for the prices so it will be either one with snapdragon 801 or MTK 6595 my only problem i always have with MTK’s is with GPS is very poor i wonder how snapdragon run on GPS.

I think you will be very surprised and happy with prices of MT6595 in 6 months. But also Snapdragon 801 may come down as well. I do expect the “normal” (not Lenovo flashship phones etc…) MT6595 phones to be $250 or so within the next 2 months.

Regarding GPS. I have no problem with it getting and maintaining the lock, though it’s not always 100% accurate (sometimes shows you driving through fields etc.. when driving very fast). I’ve used Qualcomm GPS before and it was constantly losing the signal. I think if needing precision tracking, a dedicated GPS unit is better. There’s a reason Garmin is still in business.

    The one that uses the snapdragon 800 is the i9506. i9500 use Exynos 5410 (SGX544 mp3 – 51.1 GFlops) and the i9505 use the snapdragon 600 (adreno 320 – 86.4 GFlops). Mtk6592 are below all these :/

Yes. You are correct. This is what I have said. MTK6592 is below these. No offense intended, but what is the point you are trying to make here?

We’re just talking. I have no intention to create polemic. Just think mtk6595 will be better than the s4 and close to s5. Maybe a dream….

I know. I did not think you were trying to make any problem. I appreciate all user’s thoughts.

I thought perhaps you were misunderstanding my previous messages, or maybe I was misunderstanding you.

I think the G6200 is about right. It is twice as powerful as previous generation GPU (mt6592) and about as powerful as Snapdragon 800 GPU. It would be difficult to expect more. Of course we can always want it.

Also MT6795 is in the works for 2014. Maybe it will get a GPU upgrade.

Okay, sorry for anything. I agree, we always expect more … But I’m being too optimistic, I hope not to disappoint me.

What retailers and brands will sell and make use of the new chip???

I was looking for more data on the GPU but you’re data was very reliable. Also, what config of big.Little will be employed? dual+dual, dual+quad, quad+quad??? what about gpu core count?

    Thanks,

      Quad a7 + quad a17.
The gpu probably will be dual core.

      Hi Shalin, mt6595 is 32bit.
