Update on MTK Quad-core MTK MT6588 / MTK6589 release date!

Hopes for a 2012 release may be dashed. I wouldn’t put it entirely out of the realm of possibility, as MTK MT6589 / MTK6589 CPUs have already been successfully implemented in test units, but MTK is officially stating that the MTK MT6589 / MTK6589 will be released in “early 2013”.

So for those of you holding out for MTK MT6589 / MTK6589, I would guess a 4 month wait minimum before we actually see MTK6588 phones available at the retail level.

    And what’s up with you writing ” mtk 6588 / mtk 6588 ” everywhere. Do you meant “mtk 6588 / mtk 6583 ” ?

      Yes…It’s too bad. I was looking forward to it also…There’s still some hope, but “officially” it will be out “early 2013”.

      Re, mtk…It’s for SEO purposes. It’s not “mtk 6588 / mtk 6588” – It’s “MTK MT6589 / MTK6589”. Something like this isn’t normally needed, but while some people search for the correct name – mt6588, many people (including me) search using “mtk6588”.
