I’m looking forward to the p20/25 release. Should be a very well balanced chipset. At least for those of us who don’t game, and just want a quick phone in day to day use, along with good battery life. I’m a little concerned about where this will fit in the pricing scheme though. Like you, I expect it to show up in phones around $200, but with the x20/25 SD 650/652 already in phones as cheap as $160, the p20 might be a tough sell. Even the sd820 can be found under $250 in a few phones now(Mi5,zuk z2, le eco Max 2). One thing is for certain, there are certainly going to be a ton of good phone choices around the $200 price point in the next year.

What’s up Jh1, Snapdragon 650 is in the Redmi Note 3 Pro for as little as $145 these days. I think I might have overestimated P20/25 a bit; maybe we’ll first see them in phones at around $165-180. Just a guess.

You’re right though, by the time P20/25 is coming in force, we’ll be seeing Mi5 at around $200. Xiaomi (especially RN3P) is making it very difficult for the other guys to compete. But the other side of that is that the other guys really need to step up in terms of quality, specs, and price. Though, that’s where this UMi, Elephone, Vernee hype marketing comes in…

I keep forgetting the 2gb/16gb rn3 pro is under $150 now. That definitely is a killer phone for the price. Even the cool1 dual is can be found around $170 with the sd652. Interested to see how cam performance on that one compares with the redmi pro, Mi5 and rn3 pro.

          What’s interesting is that the 652 has 4-core Cortex-A72 as opposed to 2-core Cortex-A72. I think a big bump up from 650…

The Redmi Pro is onhand. I’ve got some pics I will try to sneak into the newsletter tonight if time permits. On paper, the Mi5 should be the winner here (16MP + bigger sensor). But IMO, the difference between these 3 (M3 pro=RN3P, yes?) is negligible enough that I wouldn’t factor it into the decision.

Yeah, the SD 652 looks like a beast. Sorry, yes I meant RN3 pro. Looking forward to your thoughts on the redmi pro.
