MTK6757 Helio P20 has arrived
Meizu has been putting out phones even longer than Xiaomi, with their first release back in 2007 (Xiaomi’s first mobile wasn’t released until 2012). And, they’ve been in the electronics business even longer, producing MP3 and MP4 players as early as 2003.

Both Xiaomi and Meizu have long been known for producing good phones at very good prices, but while Xiaomi has made huge strides globally with viral advertising and international marketing, Meizu has quietly chugged along at their own pace. They’re happy where they are, with a very strong Chinese customer base and not getting too greedy.
We first broke the news about Helio P20 back in May 2016, and since then have put out several articles about MT6757 Helio P20. Beautifully, Helio P20 hits 60% higher than P10 according to leaked benchmarks in October.
It’s fitting that Meizu is the first to put out a P20 mobile, as they’re a very respectable brand and in many ways are unique. Not everyone will immediately warm to their Android mods, but after awhile you might find yourself loving it.
Meizu M3X review specs
SoC Helio P20 MTK6757
Helio P20 is a very powerful SoC, manufactured using 16nm process which makes it very power efficient. It’s not going to get the same type of amazing battery life we see from the 14nm Snapdragon 625 Redmi 4 Pro.
Powerwise, the typical user and even heavy users should not notice a difference in performance between the Helio P20 and top notch flagship SoC.
Meizu M3X RAM
RAM on the Meizu X will be 3GB, or 4GB in the Meizu M3X Pro version. It’s been shown time and again that a 3GB RAM phone vs a 6GB RAM phone will show no difference in performance. Power users who require huge numbers of apps open at once (15+) without falling out of RAM may benefit from 4GB, but in general the difference will never tell in real world use.
Meizu M3X ROM
While most users likely won’t want to choose the M3X 64GB version based on RAM, the storage difference could be important to many. The storage carried by the Meizu X Standard is 32GB and this should be more than enough for the majority of users, but users who like to keep a lot of media content on their phones may want to consider the 64GB version of M3X.
Meizu M3X display
The display on the Meizu M3X will be Sharp brand 2.5D Arc 5.5″@1080P. We’ve been very impressed by the Sharp displays that UMi is using in their recent mobiles; they are some of the best non-OLED displays we’ve seen, with excellent color saturation and black levels. While the display used in the M3X may not be the same as used in recent UMi phones, it’s a good chance the display will be great.
Meizu M3X camera
The camera sensor in the Meizu M3X is a Sony brand 12MP. This is likely Sony IMX286 or Sony IMX386, both of which are 1/2.9″ and should put out well beyond adequate images.
Meizu M3X battery
The battery on the Meizu M3X is 3200mAh. It’s not huge, but coupled with the 16nm Helio P20 should give users about 8 hours screenon time (SOT) when using WiFi.
When will Meizu M3X be released
The Meizu M3X with the brand new Helio P20 is available for shipping now.
