How To Share and Stream Movies / Media Files / Documents From Your PC To Your Android With ES Explorer!

Once ES File Explorer is installed, tap it and start ‘er up:

  1. You may get some install notes upon first running it. Accept / Okay them
  2. Swipe left (slide your finger from right to left). You should now see at the top-middle ‘LAN Shares’
  3. In the 2nd row from the top you will see a big ‘+’ sign. Tap it and select ‘server’
  4. You can leave ‘Domain’ blank. In the next field, enter the IP address of the PC you want to link to (how to find your PC’s IP address).
  5. In the next 2 fields enter the username and password that you use to log on to your computer with
  6. Leave ‘display as’ blank or name this link from your Android to your PC anything you like
  7. Click ‘Ok’

You should now be redirected back to the main LAN Share directory in ES File Explorer. You should see the IP address of your PC or whatever you chose to name it in step 6. Assuming you’ve shared the folder properly and entered the appropriate information, you will now be able to tap and access your PC’s shared folders.

I mostly use this method to stream movies to my Android smartphone, but obviously there are 100 other ways this could come in handy. I find new uses everyday for this. For example, I just transferred the screenshot above to my desktop from my phone, or easily accessing books to read with Cool Reader.
