In my recent post regarding TCL Idol X+ S960T, there was some talk regarding the first wave of them to be at 2.0GHz. There’s also some talk of an even higher clocked [email protected].
If this turns out to be true, it won’t surprise me at all. It’s no coincidence the number being 2.3. This is exactly what the higher level Snapdragon 600 SoCs run at and though we know it’s not the end all be all, many consumers look at GHz as one of the most important factors in choosing their phone. MediaTek will want to match the number to Qualcomm to make it look at least as fast.
In the real world, we know GHz isn’t always the most telling factor regarding responsiveness and processing power of a computer or smartphone. Architecture, available cores, load balance, RAM speed and amount, eMMC read/write speeds are crucial as well. Still, it’s important to look the part and I think this is a fair prediction we’ll see 2.3GHz or faster MT6592 within Q2 of 2014. Let’s see if this prediction turns out.
