We just made a post regarding the Oppo N1 releasing an official version of their phone with CyanogenMod. Part of the reason this is happening is because CyanogenMod has passed Google’s CTS and CDD stringent qualifiers. This now allows CM to come with any and all Google apps, and be compatible out of the box with Google Play.
CyanogenMod is a heavily modified version of Android. It’s highly sought after by Android enthusiasts, though only available for a select group of models.
Passing Google’s standards test has been a huge step for CM (CyanogenMod), as now phones can officially release their models without worry regarding out of the box compatibility with Google Play and the Google bundle of apps.
Previously users would have to download a special ‘gapps’ (Google Apps) package and install it through CWM or other custom recovery. Now they’ll be able to release versions of CyanogenMod which include all of the gapps as part of the deal.
Also, now that CyanogenMod has gotten the Google ‘seal of approval’, we may start to see other custom Android versions start to become commercialized and released stock as part of the phone.
