MT6582 iNew V3 Review – (Part 1 – Unboxing)

inew-v3-mt6582-4It takes quite a bit to get me excited, and the MTK6582 iNew V3 did that for me. Upon first receiving the phone, I was very impressed with the box it came in. The box showed some real class with a bit of texture and style to it. I liked what iNew did there. First impressions are important they say.

A flip case was included. The box was super tight, and the ribbon meant to slide out the contents didn’t help at all. It was in there so tight, that when pulling on the ribbon, the box actually started to rip. Finally putting my thumb inside and giving it a hard tug brought it loose.

Finally getting the box opened, there was the standard assortment of accessories. The quality of the headphones, USB cable, and charger all looked fairly standard. I’ve definitely seen cheaper headphones.

I was impressed with the manual, which was entirely in English. I still haven’t gone through the manual closely, but at first glance it looks to be written by a native speaker as opposed to some poorly translated text.

When I pulled the MT6582 iNew V3 out, I was immediately impressed by it’s slick looks. This is one great looking phone. The side panels seemed to be brushed aluminum and the back is matte finish. These two factors combined with the square corners and rounded tops and bottoms make for a very classy and unique looking mobile.

It turns out the phone isn’t actually 6.5mm. While at the edges it’s 6.5mm, at the thickest part it’s actually 7.9mm. For me this is no problem. The iNew V3 looks awesome and the thickness is fine. It doesn’t detract at all from my opinion of the phone. Though it must be mentioned, I’m a bit disappointed in iNew for being somewhat misleading. 6.5mm is partially true, but mostly not.

The back unsnaps fine, as there’s a little notch to get the process started. The phone is dual-SIM, one of which is sized for a micro/mini SIM. If your SIM is full sized, it’s no problem to cut it down.

Overall I was very impressed with the iNew V3. It didn’t disappoint in the looks department, and while the phone is extremely light without the battery, it doesn’t look cheap in the slightest.

Please can you do a full test of GPS with out a data connection, using navfree or copilot etc to show how well the gps works as a standalone device as would need to use in my car without a data connection.
    Thanks

I can try and get it done. I normally use Google Maps for navigation. I will turn data off and give it a go. I think it will be no problem.

        Hi Damian,

Thanks for testing for me, I just watched the second video review and I am sold, I will be ordering one today, did 1949deal.com manage to source spare batteries?
I agree with you on the case and I want friends/colleagues to see the phone so they ask about it so I can show them there is more choice than just Apple and Samsung with their 24 month contracts paying well over the odds for the hardware and a limited plan.
        Thanks again

We’ll source a second battery. Hopefully this week. Go ahead and order it and just have the second battery sent later. Yes, unfortunately people have a bad view of China products and in many cases they’re correct. But if buying a name brand China phone that’s been already tested by Gizbeat, it’s tough to go wrong. Don’t even tell them it’s a China phone. At first, don’t tell them it’s a China brand. Tell them it’s the new brand from Crutchfield :)

Stock puts the storage at 1.5GB for /system and 13gb for phone storage. It can be modified through EBR.

    Hi,

i was wondering if it supports operator 3g video calls, like some of the samsung and
    lg phones.

    thx

The phone and OS seems to support the feature. The option is there, and when tapped, front camera is enabled and it attempts to make the video call. However, it’s your carrier that’s the important part. They must support the feature, and the phone you’re calling must have an OS installed that supports it.

    HI!
How about the battery, how long does it stays alive with normal use?
    Thanks

If you charged it fully and then sat down and used it until dead, you’ll get about 4-5 hours on screen assuming normal use. It should be enough to easily get you through 15 hours, but then that will depend on how you use your phone.

I’m not sure. I didn’t run nails over it. It’s a very good question though…

Love your reviews! One thing that doesn’t seem to surface in the review is weather or not a cover will fit the phone. I have a Feiteng H9500, it’s slightly longer than the the Samsung S4, there is no cover for it. It now has a bit of “drop rash” on it. I am ready to replace it for that reason, but the next phone must be able to fit a cover. Food for thought!

There is a flip case available. It will come with the phone from many sellers.

The phone is rootable. There’s no extra China junk on the phone. At least none that I’ve seen. Cheers.

    Hello , Sir
    Let me know
1.Front camera has touch fogus ?
2.Please compair with THL T200C for rare camera and front camera , which one better ?
3.How long the movies playing and music ?

    thank you sir

The THL W200S has better pics, but you can download them and compare 1:1 from http://www.chinaphonearena.com in the picture forum and decide for yourself. The iNew v3 front camera does not focus. The iNew v3 battery gets about 3 hours onscreen normal use and 5 hours if charging the battery externally.
