MT6582 iNew V3 Review (LED, External Speaker, Microphone, Earpiece)

inew-v3-mt6582-6We’ve already shown the unboxing in part 1, and the daylight photos in part 2. In part 3, we’ll go over some of the components. After spending a couple of days with the MTK6582 iNew V3, I can without a doubt say it’s one of the best buys out there right now. Read on to find out why.

MTK6582 iNew V3 LCD

The LCD can be classified as excellent. This is a true IPS display. The resolution is 720p and presents a very crisp, clear, bright image on the iNew V3. The viewing angles are perfect, and even from extreme angles, the color remains bright and true. 720p is fine for a 5.0″ phone, and from a normal viewing distance, the large majority of people would be able to tell the difference between 720p and 1080p on a 5″ LCD.

MTK6582 iNew V3 External Speaker

The external speaker on the V3 can be classified as very good. The sound when listening to tunes from 8tracks was very loud. Not the loudest we’ve ever heard from a smartphone, but certainly louder than the majority of China mobiles. Easily loud enough to fill a medium room, or for speaker phone calls. Remember, this is subjective. Don’t expect it to sound like your Denon home system and you’ll be more than happy.

MTK6582 iNew V3 Microphone

Though not extensively tested, over the course of several short phone calls, I was never asked to repeat anything even though I was outdoors at a noisy gas station. The iNew V3 is reported as having ‘dual-mics’, however I have yet to open the phone to confirm it.

MTK6582 iNew V3 Earpiece

The V3’s earpiece can be classified as very good. The person on the other end sounded clear and loud. Even in somewhat noisy environment, you should be able to hear the person on the other end without any problem at all.

MTK6582 iNew V3 LED

The LED was brighter than I expected it to be. It could be classified as very bright. Nice little flashlight, and should make a significant difference with relatively close photos indoors and in the dark.

Conclusion

As anyone who has had several China phones knows, it’s hard to find the perfect package with a China mobile. Often there will be issues with a soft LED, or crappy sound quality when speaking or listening, or possibly a too quiet external speaker. The iNew V3 thankfully has none of these problems. This is a great buy for a sub-$200 China mobile.

    Does OTG and air gesture work?

      Air gesture will not work in any current iNew V3, first batch or second batch. The ROM still needs to be updated. OTG isn’t in the first batch of 5, but will be in any iNew V3 purchased from now on from 1949deal.

        In your above reply, one clarification is needed. “OTG isn’t in the first batch of 5”. Is it first batch of 5 phones or 50 phones? Pl. confirm… I have ordered this phone on 25th Dec at 1949deal & they have shipped it on 27th Dec13. So my phone will come with OTG support or not?

          5, not 50. Please remember this is a complete screw up by iNew or the factory who made them for iNew. Not 1949deal. They sent out 1000 without OTG and didn’t make anyone aware. Maybe iNew wasn’t even aware themselves (some mistake possibly at the factory). So please try to be as understanding as possible. If you used gizbeatv3 coupon code, we can help you find out. Contact me by email with your order number and I’ll find out tomorrow whether yours was in the batch of 5 or not.

    Great review. It seems the phone lived up to all my expectations aside from the 6.5mm lie, which is not a problem for me.

    Question – when does the Gizbeat coupon expire for this phone?

    1. Damian Parsons Avatar
      Damian Parsons

      For you Bert, it will never expire :) Sorry for the late reply, I just saw this. They’re giving a free battery now as well. gizbeatv32013

    Hi Damian,

    I wanted to know if you know anything about goophone v92 which looks like a clone of the Inew V3 same spec and price $199 or is Inew selling them to Goophone rebranded?
    http://www.goophone.cc/goophone-v92.html

    Also they are doing the goophone v92 pro for $349
    * 1.7GHz MTK MT6592 octa-core processor
    * 2GB DDR3 RAM, 32GB storage
    * Support 4G FDD-LTE network
    http://www.goophone.cc/goophone-v92-pro.html

    Any thoughts on these would be good, I have ordered the V3 a few days ago and look forward to receiving it.

    Thanks for all your reviews as without them probably would not have made the purchase.

      I find it interesting goophone has theirs marked as ‘single-sim’. So perhaps it is just a clone, or perhaps they’re buying a slightly different version from the same factory. Or maybe it’s an error in the specifications on the goophone page. My best guess is that assuming the spec page is correct, the v92 is made at the same factory, just with slightly different specs (Single SIM, and ‘Pro’ version).

      I hope you enjoy the phone. The only fault I’ve found with it is the slightly low battery capacity, but with 2 batteries, the phone is a bargain.

    For me, it’s quite confusing where to put the 6582 on the performance spectrum, especially that there’s supposed to be a bigger brother, the 6588. Is it practically slower or on par with in real life browsing, navigation (e.g. waze) etc. than last years 6589 or 6589T?
    It would be awesome to have a perspective on exactly that, with practical, IRL experience. Synthetic Antutu numbers don’t really give me that.
    Thanks for all the great work!

      @dzsino I just got my son the no.1 N3 with the 6582 and I have the jiayu G4 6589T. We did a comparison test of web browsing and Antutu. Web browsing was even faster on his phone (my milliseconds) but everything else was a bit slower than my Jiayu. This was reflected in the Antutu scores which were 14500 for him and 16500 (roughly) for me.

    Hey DAmian,

    How’s the battery life like if I’m to talk for about 45 – 50 mins, check my emails, browse the net while connected WiFi for about 2 hrs or so & play few games throughout the day, take a few pics & say listen to music & watch videos. would it last a day. that’s my usual usage.

    1. Damian Parsons Avatar
      Damian Parsons

      It should be fine. Figure 3-4.5 hours onscreen through the day. Have an extra battery ready just in case.

      Yes. It should work. Please email me your order number and information so I can make sure the extra battery is sent. Please be aware it’s China holiday now, so it may be a few days before the phone goes out.

          Just hit the ‘Contact us’ tab in the right-hand corner. Now it’s China holiday. All China shops are closed until Febuary 6. Email me regardless because they may be back before then to take orders.

    hi, would like to know whether its support dual 3g sim.
    does the package include the original flip cover? thank you.

    1. Damian Parsons Avatar
      Damian Parsons

      Hello xian,

      It should include an original flip cover. It is the ‘sticky’ type that sticks to back. It supports 3G on one SIM at a time you can swap them in Android settings easily without turning off the phone.

    Hi Jim

    I have owned this device for 3 months. The other day I was using the phone and the internal storage on the device said that it was damaged. A few moments later the phone’s touch screen function stopped. So i decided to flash it but it soft bricked. I tried flashing the phone again this time with FORMAT ALL + DOWNLOAD and it completely shut down. It cannot boot into system or bootloader. Any attempts at flashing the phone seem futile. Please help or give me some advice on this. Thanks.

      I’ve since learnt of salvaging an mtk based phone that is hardbricked by shorting its test service spot. Any chance you might know where that is?
      On the motherboard that is. Any reply would be helpful.
