iOcean, Ready To Take Europe By Storm!

No doubt it’s iOcean week here at Gizbeat. How could it not be though, with the release of the MT6582 iOcean X7 HD, release announcements of the MT6592 iOcean X7S Elite, monster iOcean G7, and flagship MTK6592 iOcean X8.

Europeans should be rejoicing, as iOcean may have converted their whole line over to 900/2100WCDMA in a strong push towards making iOcean a household name in Europe. This isn’t the first 900/2100WCDMA China phone, but if the rumors turn out to be true, it will be the first time an ‘unknown’ mid-range China brand has released their entire line with 900MHz WCDMA and quad-band GSM.

It would have been lovely to see quad-band 3G, or at least 850MHz kept in the loop, but it’s looking like it’s not to be. It’s frustrating for Americans to see the loss of 850MHz, but I’ve rethought the issue somewhat, and have come to the conclusion that this may not be such a bad business decision for iOcean, if things turn out as we think they may. Particularly because they’d be the only ones to do it. It distinguishes them. They may, for 2014 at least, be known as the European China Brand, and they could be a very good choice for Europeans who don’t have any plans to travel to the Americas anytime soon.

We’re still waiting on confirmation on this. Within the next couple weeks will tell the tale when the other iOcean models will be released.
