The top 10 phones in the world isn’t complete without two entries from Xiaomi. We know Xiaomi makes a great phone, but this is a new development seeing them in the top 10 with their Hongmi Redrice and Mi3. I’m not sure if we should be frightened or elated – China brands in the top 10, but there it is.
It’s a bit disconcerting to see iOS devices occupying 3 out of the top 5 slots, but Android still walks away with the prize with 7 out of 10 are carried by Google’s OS.

According to Counterpoint’s India based Research Director, Neil Shah:
“The addition of Nokia’s aggressively-priced X-Series smartphones that are based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) platform, will also start to become available progressively over the next few months. After several quarters in the wilderness, these innovative devices will likely push Nokia back into the best sellers list.”
Without a doubt we find this very interesting and it means at least some experts believe Nokia is still in the game. It’s amazing that it’s taken this long for Nokia to come around as they stubbornly held onto their own OS, then made a failed attempt with Windows Mobile.
Nevertheless, it’s cheering to see. There is a fond place in our hearts for Nokia which held the top spots and made so many excellent handsets with intuitive firmware from day one. Their only failing is that they took this long to come along on the Android train. Let’s hope it’s not too late for them.
