MT6572 Schematics and MT6582 Full Tech Manual

Released as “confidential”, Gizbeat has gotten their hands on the tech manual for MT6582 and a schematic diagram for MT6572. Those who are into getting geeked out may be interested in perusing these documents.

The schematics for the MTK6572 do not include values and ic names, but can give those who are familiar with such things a good idea of how these SoCs work.

Thats a great info of Mediatek SoC, despite of Mediatek’s closely source of their SoC products from DVD SoC to Smartphone SoCs.
Is there any leaked datasheet or schematic of MT6589T out there?
I wish to know what is the engine of its MHL transmitter? Why my Neo N003 MHL output only support max.720p while the screen is 1080p?
My Samsung TV (1080p FHD) looks useless if N003 MHL output only @720p.
I just want to investigate if there any possibility to switch the MHL output res up to 1080p.
AFAIK, Silicon Image had licensed their MHL Transmiter chip to use in Mediatek’s SoC. But no specific details what is their MHL Transmiter chip used in MT6589T. From driver in the rom, what I can see is the only “SiIMHL” without device number.

Damian, can you help for MT6589T datasheet/detailed product brief available to download?
I will share anything I found if I can switch up the MHL res up 1080p.

    Thanks in advance.

I believe it is a hardware restriction. The hdmi transmitter bridge for MT6589 only supports 720p. It would either be an 8352 or 8356 MHL transmitter implemented in your phone.

    Hi Nicky,
Thanks for the info. And I am quite sure it was SiI8352. Too bad if MTK restricted only to 720p, looks obsolete to me, since trends is heading to QHD and 4K.
Is this also applied to MT6582 and MT6592?

      I can’t say for the MT6582, but MT6592 is capable of 1080p.

Great! Your respond really appreciated. This will be one consideration of my next plan to buy Jiayu G4S/G5S since my NEo N003 will be endorsed to my son.
Do you think G4S will deliver 1080p thru Miracast even its screen only 720p? I have a plan to casting my phone using Miracast dongle, unlike Neo N003, G4S is not supporting MHL.

According to Jiayu, G4s will not support Miracast despite support claims from supplier spec sheets. However, if by some chance it is still hardware enabled and you find a way to software enable it, i think you will only be mirroring at the same resolution as the phone.

    Oh ya? Oh nooo…
    Nicky,
But I saw some video in youtube showing that G4S has “Wireless Display” option under “Display” menu, so it means that the option has useless setting?
Just got dissappointed to Jiayu if it was true. But one thing I highlighted while casting wirelessly is the res of hdtv I got is the res of the phone’s screen resolution, despites the phones support 1080p or not. Am I correct?
If yes, then I have to look for MT6592 phones with 1080p screen and Miracast capable. Any good phone below $300 you may recommend?

It is possible they still put in a provision for it, and if they changed their minds, a software update could enable it.

You will only be sending the video signal of the phone over a wifi connection, in a case of a 720p phone, a 720p signal will be casted. As far as i know, if you choose to display this signal at 1080p, the tv will add in filler lines to complete the 1080p picture. You still have the same amount of data of 720p but stretched out to fit 1080p screen. You might even experience a worse quality picture.

Also, from what i have read, users aren’t too happy with the performance of Miracast with 1080p in terms of latency and degradation in wifi performance. It seems to be recommended to cast at 720p.

Aw man, I haven’t been around these kinds of phones for long. As far as recommendations go, i think Damian is the better person to ask.

You can also try registering at the forum, chinaphonearena, and start a thread there.

      Good luck with phone hunting!

Oh, that’s a good move if they make it functional. But wait! If the phone only deliver 720p maximum through Miracast, definitely I will not buy this phone. Upscaling res to 1080p with 720p quality is a gimmick, wasting energy and my money.

It’s a big dissappointment, having octa-core CPU, quad-core GPU, 802.11n 300Mbps WiFi and 2GB RAM but unable to encode a simple task, casting display in 1080p? I don’t know who is responsible, Jiayu or Mediatek?

My Chromecast was capable 1080p, but you know, it wasn’t Miracast compliant thus could not casting my 1080p screen phone.

That’s why I love to see people who shares datasheet or product brief about MT6589, 6582, 6592 or other MTK SoC. Knowing in details will force me to unlock it’s hidden potentials.

Thanks for your advices Nicky, so glad to talk with someone who understand my question :)

It’s time to dig the web again… ;-)
