Up against its non-LTE predecessor

Changing it up from the original Redmi Note equipped with MT6592 (Mali-450MP4), the 4G version has gone in a whole different direction by switching from an MTK based SoC to Qualcomm MSM8928 Snapdragon 400 chipset and Adreno 305 GPU alongside .

InteRM4G-3RM4G-1rnal memory size remains the same with 8GB available, accompanied by a 2GB RAM (omitting the 1GB option); external memory support capability will be doubled, having the 4G version handle up to 64GB micro SD cards. As opposed to the original Jellybean release of the Redmi Note, its LTE counterpart will have Android 4.4 running the show.

The Note 4G no longer supports dual sim configuration. GSM bands are unchanged with frequencies of 900/1800/1900. On the 3G front, North and Latin America will be delighted to receive 3G services with the new version – 3G frequencies are changed from the 900/2100 combo to 1900 and refarmed 2000MHz frequency bands.

On to the main point of this new model, Xiaomi has made sure to cover all bases with the LTE bands, going with 1900/2300/2600 frequency set, catering to North America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania regions.

Looking at the two versions side by side, there aren’t any other much significant differences.

The form factor stays the same at 154×78.7×9.5 mm3, as does the display with a 5.5, 720p, IPS LCD screen. Camera specs are consistent with 13MP for the primary, and 5MP for the secondary. The 3200mAH LiPo battery remains the same as well. Most importantly, the LTE spin of the Note has the same price tag as its forerunning version at around $162.

The compromise of the 4 core-count drop for 4G capabilities in order to keep the price at a comfortable rate is a very smart move. The worldwide demographic, in the market for 4G phones, will not have a hard time taking this version in consideration. Octa- turned Quad-core won’t matter much for a shot at a 4G phone at this price.
