Unfortunately in the China phone market there are quite a few fakes. Often phones that have MT6572 SoC will be cleverly disguised to look like MT6582 or MT6592. Recently there has been a clone iNew V8 put out on the market that goes by “Alps V8Y”. The phone is MT6582 1GB RAM/8GB ROM.
If you are dealing with a reputable shop, there should be no need for concern, but if you have reason to doubt and want to check if your China phone has fake specs, simply install the drivers found on Chinaphonearena and then run the latest version of MTK Droid Tool. When the information comes up, the SoC should show as you expect. It it shows “MT6582/MT6591/MT6592 is faked!”, you know you’ve got a dud.
The real iNew V8 will show as the image above. The reason it shows MT6592 is because MT6591 is essentially an MT6592 SoC with 6-cores instead of 8 and MTK Droid Tools has not been updated since MT6591’s release.
