Many budget phone buyers are patiently (or impatiently) waiting for Android Lollipop to come to MTK devices. That day looks to be right around the corner, as Lenovo, one of the first major brands to adopt MTK SoCs has released their A7000 (AKA A7600) with Lollipop and MediaTek’s new MT6752M SoC.
we will see 5.0 coming to most new China brand models and updates to current popular models within March.
The ‘M’ designated MT6752’s will be running at 1.5GHz as opposed to 1.7GHz-2.0GHz with the standard MT6752.
Those who read Gizbeat often know that I’m fairly blah when it comes to Android updates, but I do realize there are some benefits, not the least of which is closing up security holes such as Shutdown Malware.
The MT6752M SoC has a significantly higher clocked GPU than the MT6732 — 700MHz vs 500MHz. This provides the extra oomph to push 1080p, gaining you higher frame rates with gaming and a smoother Android experience. The MT6752 CPU is octacore as opposed to quadcore with MT6732.
The Lenovo A7000 will carry 2GB RAM, 8GB ROM/Storage, a 2900mA battery, 5.5″@720p display and notably — Dolby Atmos technology.
Lenovo coming with Lollipop should mean that we will see 5.0 coming to most new China brand models and see Lollipop ROM updates to current popular models within March.
