Zopo zp500 Libero gets an upgrade to IPS LCD and MTK6577 (w/Quick specs)
News just in is that Zopo zp500 Libero has been updated to Zopo zp500+ (plus) with mtk mt6577 / mtk6577 and IPS LCD. This is excellent news, however I think they made a mistake by not upgrading the RAM to 1gb. The IPS screen along with 6577 and Zopo’s great camera would have put the zp500+ at the top of Gizbeat’s shortlist…That is, if they’d included 1gb RAM instead of 512mb. -
UMi X1 mtk6577 dual-core – first 1000 units released! (Quick post & Spec table)
It appears the first batch of 1000 UMi X1’s have finally been released. There were some issues with the web server taking the orders, but after awhile things were sorted out. Hopefully the 2nd batch of UMi X1’s goes more smoothly.This is good news for people looking to buy this hot little phone. We hopefully will see it any week now actually being shipped to countries outside of China. (more…)

GPU in the mtk6588 ( mtk6588 – part 5 )
In part 5 we’ll discuss what could be the biggest reason some of you may want to wait for the MTK MT6589 / MTK6589 and MTK mt6583. The GPU! The SGX544 is a huge step up from SGX531, and will be on-board the quad-core mt6588 / mtk6588 and the dual-core mt6583 as well. -
Breaking news – Quad-core 1.5Ghz MTK6588 initial release to manufacturers in October!
I’ve just got word that the quad-core may be released in October for proofing purposes to manufacturers! Though it remains to be seen for sure, it reportedly will be cheaper than the mtk mt6577 / mtk6577.
