We just made a post regarding the Oppo N1 releasing an official version of their phone with CyanogenMod. Part of the reason this is happening is because CyanogenMod has passed Google’s CTS and CDD stringent qualifiers. This now allows CM to come with any and all Google apps, and be compatible out of the box with Google Play. (more…)

Super Breaking! MT6590 MT6595 4G LTE To Be Released In January!

Breaking – MediaTek MTK LTE / 4G Planned For Q1 2014!
A month or so back, I discussed LTE coming at some point in 2014 to MediaTek SoC. It turns out that prototype 4G / LTE chip testing has already begun with some of the major China manufacturers. The current buzz is that the 4G / LTE MTK chips may be released as early as Q1 2014. (more…)

Will MTK6592 China Phones Work In America and Europe?
Since writing my last preview of MT6592 THL T100 Monkey King 2 / Iron Man, the shops have changed their tune and are now including 850MHz WCDMA / UMTS in the specs of the T100. Some are now even showing 1900MHz WCDMA. The MT6592 Mlais MX69 Pro is showing quad-band WCDMA (850/900/1900/2100) on shop sites and on the Mlais official page as well. Is it too good to be true? MTK6592 vs Qualcomm Battery Efficiency Images!
Here we have some recent images showing the power efficiency of MT6592. They are touting MTK6592 as being 40% more efficient than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800. The ARM Cortex A7 is indeed very efficient, and actually ARM says “The ARM Cortex™-A7 MPCore™ processor is the most efficient application processor ARM has ever developed”. (more…)
