Elephone resorts to crowdfunding for Elephone Z1
You’ve got to hand it to Elephone. They have a knack for catching the public’s eye and creating excellent levels of hype and awareness. Quality is another matter, but you certainly can’t fault their aggressive marketing team.
Not all of their ideas hit, such as the distastefully dubbed Elephone Ivory, but overall they’ve done a good job of making a name for themselves above most of the competition.
All that said, they still have the capacity to shock. Their upcoming Elephone Z1 is being financed via crowdfunding. Users can get the Elephone Z1 for as low as $199.99 compared to what Elephone says will be $229.99 at shops when it’s released.
Similar to sites such as GoFundMe, there’s a bar which shows the current number of “supporters”; as of this post Elephone is claiming 6248 supporters, which makes up 7% of their target. Also similar to crowdfunding sites, Elephone has implemented a progress timeline, as well as a comments section for backers and potential backers of Z1.
This is a cleverly designed pre-sale, though it could be argued that that’s all crowdfunding is anyways, albeit in a fancier manner.
Don’t want to back the Z1, you can also pay $1 towards “supporting” Elephone out of the kindness of your heart.
