Xiaomi to stop updates for 6 legacy models
Xiaomi has long provided excellent software update support for their phones, putting even some of the big brands to shame.
Some models you might say should have been left behind long ago, but they continued to roll out updates. Notably, the Mi 2 was released in 2012 with MIUI 5, yet Xioami has supported the phone with updates until now.
It can’t go on forever though. Six models will be receiving their last stable ROM updates in the form of MIUI 9.
The six slated for being let go from the update cycle are Mi 2/2S, Mi 4i, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi 2, Redmi 2 Prime, and Mi Note.
MIUI 9 on phones with Android 7 will now natively support split-screen, a very handy mode for multi-tasking which we use often. Previously the mode was accessible with a workaround by using the fingerprint sensor to trigger it and was also available with some versions of the developer ROM.
