It’s been what seems like a long wait and the wait is finally over, as MediaTek will be officially announcing their quad-core MTK6588 / MTK6589 CPU tomorrow.

This is good for those still considering MTK MT6577 / MTK6577 as well because prices should drop on the dual-core MTKs shortly after MTK6588 / MTK6589 phones are released.

MTK6588 / MTK6589 CPUs carry the SGX544 GPU which will easily handle any game currently available and should be good for at least the next 2 years regarding 3D gaming. As well, the CPU officially supports 720p LCD resolution and will be able to easily decode and encode 1080p video. The CPU will support camera’s up to 13mp.

The official conference should happen tomorrow afternoon. Stay tuned for an update.
