No rest for the wicked. Of that there’s no doubt. Did you read the first part of the comparison between the Star S5 and the Hero H7500+ / Zopo ZP810?
Camera – Though the Star S5’s spec sheets generally report a higher MP count for both the front and the back cameras, we can’t trust these on paper specs anymore regarding megapixels, as many smartphones use interpolation to be able to up their mp specs. Another tick is that the Chinese sellers will just blatantly lie on the spec sheets to get sales and they often copy each others spec sheets.
What counts in my book is this – What is the quality of the photographs the rear camera takes? We know the h7500+ puts out some above average shots. Though it’s possible, I will be surprised to find the Star shoots better quality shots than the Hero. I’m guessing the Star S5 will have a rear camera that shoots at on or about the same level as the Hero, but we won’t know until we get some owners and some reviews on the forum.
Remember to wipe your lens before shooting! It never ceases to amaze me, the Chinese sellers showing photo samples with what clearly contain soft-white clouding due to smudges. If Gizbeat absolutely had to lean one way, we’d say the Hero h7500+ has the edge because we already know it’s capable of some fine shots. But we must call this one a wash because we simply don’t know yet.
Operating systems – The stock operating system on the Star S5 is JB 4.2.1 and the stock operating system on the Hero is JB 4.1.2. Again, what at first seems like a clear advantage for the S5, isn’t, as the Hero already has a mostly stable JB 4.2.1 beta released for it.
Verdict – If you need a phone now, the H7500+ is the easy choice between these two 5.0″ phones. If the Star S5 is interesting to you, you might want to wait just a short longer until some real reviews start coming out to see how the LCD and camera stack up.
I think that either of these phones will make the average user happy and joyous. However, those who like to play a lot, the H7500+ has a huge start out the gate. It was the first budget MTK6589 to become available. There at least 3 different brands pushing it. It doesn’t hurt that nearly every ROM, fix and mod for the H7500+ is also compatible with it’s megantic 5.7″ brother, the Zopo 950+ / ZP950, which has become a very popular phone in China. What’s all that mean? You will have tons of forum support, mods and ROMS coming out for this phone. It likely will be the leader for a long while to come.
I recommend taking a look HERE if you’re interested in a new phone or gadget. As of this post, the H7500+ is $219 shipped. A very good price. There may be better prices out there, however these guys have been around for a long time and are a professional outfit. They have always been courteous, patient and quick to respond.
