MT6582 iNew V3 OTG Not Working?
Some of you who may have received your iNew v3 recently may have had a frustrating time getting your OTG working. Well there’s a reason for that – It wasn’t included in the first 1000 units that iNew released.
Whether this was planned by iNew, whether iNew didn’t know about it, whether it was a mistake at the factory – we give iNew a giant ‘boo-hiss’ and a digital bitch slap. I’ve recently wrote how much I was liking iNew, however with the recent news of them letting out 1000 iNew V3 without the advertised OTG is a stain that will remain on them for quite awhile – at least in our minds, though you may be more forgiving.
The shops can’t be blamed, as iNew didn’t make them aware. Perhaps iNew themselves weren’t even aware until they’d already been released to the public.
Well, this is part of the risk we take when ordering from China. The sellers and manufacturer’s operate on extremely thin profit margins and along with our getting very nice phones for bargain prices, QC, customer service, and transparency suffers. The best we can do is try to purchase from a shop that will service legitimate warranty issues, at which the cost of shipping still lays at our feet. Again, this is the risk we take. I, for one, have found China mobiles to be enjoyable and well worth it despite the occasional snags.
To finish up, it was only the first 1000 units that iNew released that didn’t have OTG. All MTK6582 iNew V3 should now be of the newer type and will include OTG. Remember to confirm this with your seller prior to purchasing.

Hi Damian Yes iNew will be a bad taste for the ones which have ordered the V3 now, including me.
Would it be a software problem which will be rectified later with an update. I have heard that is the problem with the Motion Gesture feature, and can be rectified with an update.

The motion feature can be rectified with an update. The OTG, not. Unfortunately these are some of the risks we take. Nearly every China brand is guilty of some sort of misleading or crappy quality checking. Again, it’s possible iNew didn’t even know about it until they were shipped. Though, there’s no excuse for iNew not checking them first. The shops can’t be blamed, as it’s simply not possible to check every single feature of every phone that goes out. Really I don’t want them messing with my phone anyways. This is just something we MUST be ready to deal with when we decide to purchase a China brand from overseas. It’s the hard truth. I’m still enjoying it :)
What about NFC ??? My Inew V3 dosen’t support NFC or it has a problem .
Have you tried NTAG203 type tags? I haven’t had a chance to test NFC functionality, but people are reporting success with NTAG203.
I am sure my NFC does not work. I have various tags and smart cards and non works – it does not recognize the tag/card and nothing happens. I have an Oppo 5 (which has NFC) and it recognizes any tag/smart card/credit card etc. My Oppo 5 also does not recognize my Inew V3 as an NFC devise. I can see the NFC tag at the back cover and I tried various Apps and still no luck. I am one of the few unlucky 1000 with a non working OTG. But, the camera is 18.2M and its not as good as my Oppo 5 13M camera picture.
Thanks Domian for doing a great job hosting Chinaphonearena.com
If you’ve also tried the tags I’ve suggested and it still doesn’t work, I recommend you send it back to your seller for warranty.
Regarding camera, I’m not surprised the Oppo takes better pictures. It’s a different class of smartphone. Megapixels have zero to do with picture quality assuming there are enough true pixels to fill the medium.
Thank you much for commenting and the compliment. I do work quite hard. Cheers.
