MTK6582 Gionee M2 Review Specifications! Huge 4200mA Battery!
Soon to be launched is the MT6582 Gionee M2. It will have 1GB RAM and 4GB storage/ROM. The LCD will be 5.0″@480p. SD slot is included for adding memory. Profile will be 10.5mm. Camera will be 8mp rear, 2mp front. Standard array of components – proximity sensor, magnetic sensor, light sensor, GPS, WCDMA and GSM radios.
The huge bonus with this phone is it’s giant 4200mA battery.
Also included is an OTG mode that allows the phone to output power from the USB port becoming a 4200mA power bank. Not sure how useful this is, as usually what we need to charge is our own phone, but I guess it could come in handy in some situations.
A couple things to note here is the very low resolution of 480p. Quite amazing in 2014 to see one of the ‘major’ China brands releasing a phone with such low resolution. We’re on the fence whether this is acceptable. Though clarity is a factor – 196ppi vs 296ppi with 720p vs 441ppi with 1080p, the main issue here is amount of content that will fit on the screen with 480p.
There are a couple of benefits to the low resolution. Games should absolutely hum, and battery life should be improved since the SoC will be getting a big break because of not having to render as many pixels.
On a sad note for Americans and travelers, but a possible bonus for Europeans is the inclusion of 900WCDMA, as well as standard 2100.
