MediaTek is a company that embodies the concept of technological evolution. Not too long ago, their idea of a smartphone chipset utilizing eight processor cores was deemed unnecessary and was subject to ridicule.

Today, MediaTek octa core phones are becoming standard, and anything specced below that is considered low to mid range. It has come to a point where other chipset manufacturers are working hard to keep up with the developments that MediaTek delivers.

Once again, the Taiwan tech company aims to push past boundaries, further enhancing the potential power of smartphones: They are looking at designing 10-core and even 12-core chipsets.MTK-e1428841378517

As a lesson from the past year, it is no longer a point to question the practicality of their intended products. Perhaps the better stance is to just wait and see what they will bring to the table, and leave it to the many many smartphone manufacturing companies to put MediaTek’s products to good use and release phone models for us to drool over.

The MediaTek chipset family took absolutely no time to grow. Recently, the MT6577 was a monster of a chipset, and now we have highly decent MT6582 phones falling in the low-budget category.

The 64-bit chipset series is currently booming, with countless new phone models using this technology cropping up everywhere. These MT67xx chipsets are proving to be very powerful devices, and are aptly built for the also-developing Android OS (version 5.0) that runs 64-bit instruction sets.

The 10-core (deca-core) and 12-core (dodeca-core) chipset series will be codenamed ‘Bomb’, according to reports. It is still uncertain when in 2015 these chipsets will see the light of day, but without a doubt, spectators of the tech world can hardly wait.
