The Mstar M1 Pro is looking exactly like the previously reviewed Mlais M4. This is one of the heavier phones I’ve reviewed with a very solid metal frame and some fair bit of heft to it. Overall a very solid phone in regards to physical build. It’s also got character with it’s leather-styled back piece and angled sides.

The Mstar M1 Pro, is very similar, not only in style, but specs as well.

Mstar M1 Pro specifications

  • SoC: MT6752
  • CPU: 64-bit [email protected]
  • GPU: Mali-T760
  • Cameras: 13MP front / 8MP rear
  • Display: IPS 5.5@720p
  • RAM: 2GB
  • ROM storage: 16GB
  • Dual-SIM: Yes
  • TF SD expandable: Yes
  • Android: 5.0
  • 2G: GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz
  • 3G: WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100MHz
  • 4G: FDD-LTE 800/1800/2100/2600MHz
  • Battery: 3000mAh

The two differences we see specwise are the SoC, which in the Mstar M1 Pro is reportedly 3000mAh (Mlais M4 2400mAh); and the SoC, which in the Mstar M1 Pro is MT6752 (Mlais M4 MT6732).

My guess here is that it’s the exact same phone from the same factory, but with a different SoC and battery. This can only be a good thing, as I found the Mlais M4 to be a well built mobile all around. Notably it has worldwide 3G, four-band 2G, and a very solid physical build.

The price is very intriguing, and for a 2GB 5.5″ MT6752 phone is downright excellent. Especially since we’re beginning to see a lot of new models with the significantly weaker MT6735.

The Mstar factor is a bit of an unknown, but if it’s as I suspect (that its the same phone as Mlais M4, but with different SoC), this is a phone that can be considered for the shortlist, especially if you like the unique style the Mstar M1 Pro brings to the table.
