Elephone rampaged onto the scene about a year back and in that short time have already become one of the better known China brands. This is largely due to heavy hype marketing. Let’s not surround “hype” with negative connotation, as that’s what marketing generally is — hype. But, there is still some responsibility to produce a modicum of what’s been promised. (more…)

Ulefone Be Touch 2 review 3GB RAM MT6752
Slim and somewhat resembling the iPhone 6, Ulefone’s Be Touch 1, with the help of some strong hype marketing, produced quite a bit of stir and put Ulefone on the map. They had also released the Ulefone Be Pro, which looked very much like the OnePlus One. (more…)

Lenovo K3 Note review 2GB MT6752 Lenovo K50 review Lemon Note
Lenovo has been an interesting player in the budget smartphone game. They’ve put out some good phones, but curiously many of them have had only 2-band GSM and single-band WCDMA. I overlooked the Lenovo K50 K50-t5 K3 Lemon Note because when news regarding it’s release first came about, the specs going around the web showed only dual-band WCDMA. (more…)

Blackview Zeta review super budget mobile
A couple of months back I reviewed the Blackview Omega. That phone looks great and had a good camera, but for an MT6592 SoC phone was too expensive in Q2/Q3 2015. Blackview has now done a complete reversal and released a sub-$100 mobile with the MTK6592M SoC. (more…)

Mlais M4 review MT6732 2GB 16GB
Mlais is one of the older China brands, well loved in China, and usually putting out good budget phones. Recently I reviewed the sub-$100 MT6592 M9 which I thought was an excellent buy for the price, and the M52, which is a powerful bargain-priced phone. Now up is the M4, nicknamed ominously — Ironbone.
