Ulefone Be Touch review 3GB MT6752

A couple of months back I reviewed the surprisingly decent Ulefone Be Pro, a phone that has now dropped in price to under $130. The next phone up from Ulefone is the Be Touch. (more…)

  • Elephone P3000S review MT6752 3GB 16GB OTG 1080P IPS

    Elephone P3000S review MT6752 3GB 16GB OTG 1080P IPS

Several months back I reviewed the Elephone MT6582 P3000. This model from Elephone carried the fine distinction of being the only Elephone I’ve reviewed (out of 6) that didn’t have critical issues. Elephone’s just getting their engines revved though, as they’re a relatively new company. Very smart regarding marketing, but the QC/software build/hardware build departments require some serious shaping up.

Now up for review is the MT6752 P3000S. Style wise there have been no changes from the MT6582 P3000. As well, many of the components are working in similar fashion, so several sections will be pasted from the previous review, with edits where necessary.

  • Asus Zenfone 2 full review – mainstream flagship bargain

Asus Zenfone 2 full review – mainstream flagship bargain

Asus came on the phone scene with the Zenfone 4, 5 and 6 about a year back. It wasn’t overly popular with the China phone crowd, but they have something that many China brands do not — a global retail presence. (more…)

  • Mlais M52 Red Note 2GB MT6752 Review / Powerful budget mobile

Mlais M52 Red Note 2GB MT6752 Review / Powerful budget mobile

Mlais is one of the lesser China known brands in comparison to iNew, Doogee, Elephone etc… This is mostly because up until the ultra cheap MT6592 Mlais M9 (opens in new tab), they almost exclusively marketed only to Chinese users. It seems they’ve now seen the light and are beginning to focus on the Western market. (more…)

  • MT6592 Blackview Omega 850/1900/2100 3G / OTG

    MT6592 Blackview Omega 850/1900/2100 3G / OTG

Blackview is a new brand. I’m a fan of the name, which for me conjures images of stealth and class, of high-dollar mercenary ninjas and assassins.

Included in the box with the Blackview Omega is a shell case, a hard plastic protector for the rear and for the front, a wet wipe and a dry wipe to clean the glass prior to applying the plastic, headphones, USB cable, OTG cable, a 2 Amp charger and an English quick-start guide. There was already a screen protector on the front of the phone. (more…)

  • MT6752 Kingzone Z1 review 2GB/OTG/NFC

    MT6752 Kingzone Z1 review 2GB/OTG/NFC

In the China phone market, Kingzone isn’t much more than a pinky newborn. They have become well known within the China brand community rather quickly though and most shops now carry them. I will have a review unit next week and I’m very much looking forward to seeing how they’ve done with the Z1. (more…)

  • Elephone P5000 full review MT6592 2GB/16GB/OTG/NFC

    Elephone P5000 full review MT6592 2GB/16GB/OTG/NFC

I have reviewed several Elephone’s recently and unfortunately been let down by most of them. Each time being excited by design, features and price, but let down by critical hardware issues or basic features not working properly (see P6000 OTG / jumpy scrolling). (more…)

  • MLAIS M9 Review – $86 MT6592M 1GB RAM OTG OGS

    MLAIS M9 Review – $86 MT6592M 1GB RAM OTG OGS

MLAIS is one of the older China phone brands. They have a good name in China and a loyal following, but have done very little marketing and promotion outside of China.

With the M9, MLAIS has come with an interesting phone — a thin, sub-$100 mobile with an MT6592M SoC. (more…)

  • Ulefone Be Pro Review – 2GB RAM / 720p LG Display

Ulefone Be Pro Review – 2GB RAM / 720p LG Display

Before there was Elephone, there was Ulefone. They have been in the game for longer than many of the current brands you know and love (or hate). Mostly known for making good clones, Ulefone has now ventured beyond their roots to design their own phones.

update: According to Ulefone’s Facebook, the camera in the Ulefone Be Pro is not Sony. This was a mistake from the marketing department. I have spoken to a Ulefone rep who has stated “the camera uses Sony technology, but is not Sony branded”. I’m not quite sure how to interpret that, but there it is. Nevertheless, the camera is quite good and for the flash sale price of $135 or coupon price of $146 the Ulefone Be Pro is still an outstanding deal.

This motivation comes from wanting to legitimately branch into Western markets. It would be impossible with clones to do this officially, so they have taken the bold step of stepping at least partially out of the clone game.

Regardless of where the motivation comes from, I can only see this development as a great thing.

Notably the Ulefone Be Pro carries with it the new 64-bit MT6732 SoC with the Mali-T760 GPU, 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM, OTG, Hotknot technology, worldwide 3G/H+ and 4-Band LTE. All at a considerably low price point given the specs.
