Cubot generally makes very solid, reliable, well-priced mobiles. They have been around long enough to be considered a veteran brand.
It may sound like I’m going a bit far, but in an industry where brands are here today and gone tomorrow and even the oldest of China brands have existed but a few years, Cubot can be considered seasoned. (more…)

Cubot has been around for a couple of years, generally producing quite decent phones. Indeed, we rarely hear of complaints regarding Cubot models.
Regarding the name of the brand, I really like “Cubot”. It’s short, simple and you know how to say it. It’s got a nice, modern ring to it, and in terms of marketing towards Westerners, speaking strictly in regards to ambiance of the name itself, makes it worlds beyond names such as Xiaomi, HomTom, Gionee, Jiayu and the like. Within the next couple weeks, we should see several MTK6589 models available for sale internationally. The three models I’ve personally got my eye on are the Cubot A6589, the THL W8 and the Star N9589. My preference isn’t for such huge screened LCDs as are featured in the Cubot and the Star models, but it seems the trend is going towards larger and larger LCDs. As we use our smartphones for more and more mainstream tasks, the trend may be warranted. (more…)
