Mlais is one of the lesser China known brands in comparison to iNew, Doogee, Elephone etc… This is mostly because up until the ultra cheap MT6592 Mlais M9 (opens in new tab), they almost exclusively marketed only to Chinese users. In the China phone market, Kingzone isn’t much more than a pinky newborn. They have become well known within the China brand community rather quickly though and most shops now carry them. I will have a review unit next week and I’m very much looking forward to seeing how they’ve done with the Z1. (more…)
Many budget phone buyers are patiently (or impatiently) waiting for Android Lollipop to come to MTK devices. That day looks to be right around the corner, as Lenovo, one of the first major brands to adopt MTK SoCs has released their A7000 (AKA A7600) with Lollipop and MediaTek’s new MT6752M SoC.

Elephone just keeps pumping them out. I just reviewed the powerful, but software crippled P6000 and the excellent Elephone P3000. Next to be released is the new wave of MT6752 SoC phones and Elephone is in on the game with the high-spec, metal-framed P7000. (more…)
Just over a year ago, in December of 2013, MT6582 hit the market. This SoC went on to revolutionize the industry and make phones with 1GB of RAM and IPS displays available in the $150 ballpark within several months of it’s introduction. (more…)
I’m highly skeptical this news is anywhere near the truth, but latest rumors out of China are that the Google Nexus 6 scheduled for Q4 release will use MediaTek MT6732 & MT6752 SoC. (more…)
One area MTK has lagged behind in is frequency support. The WCDMA 3G frequencies supported often are 850/2100 900/2100 and occasionally 2100 only. That all may change when MT6290 is released. (more…)
