Excerpt: Star is a relatively old player in this game. Most of their models are at least of decent quality. This phablet is also branded as More Fine S6 pad. Absolutely gigantic for a phone, but here it is nonetheless, a 6.5” behemoth to compete with the iNew i6000. (more…)

Excerpt: JiaYu is another hugely popular brand in China. One of the first China-brand phones to come with Gorilla Glass. The G3S remains physically unchanged from the original G3, but comes with MTK6589 or MTK6589T (Jiayu G3S Turbo) as opposed to MTK6577.

Excerpt: The iNew i6000 is one giant phone. 6.5″ of 1080p goodness. Those who own the iNew i6000 seem to be very happy with it. It’s easy to root and has a CWM already built by one of the chinaphonearena members.
Excerpt: The Zopo C2 and Zopo ZP980 are fine looking phones. Slim and slick. They come in several configurations – 1GB/2GB RAM, 4GB/16GB/32GB ROM, as well as MTK6589/MTK6589T, so be aware when your ordering so you know exactly what phone you’re getting.
Excerpt: The Bluebo B6000’s claim to fame is that it was (arguably)
Excerpt: The Star X920 / Butterfly was one of the first MTK6589 phones to come out. Once again, Star is one of the first China phones to innovate by extending their X920 line with models with MTK6589T as well. The Star X920/Butterfly is a unique looking phone.
Excerpt: The THL W8 isn’t the slickest looker on the block. In fact, you might go ahead and call it downright frumpy with it’s rounded corners, rounded back and not so slim profile. Nevertheless, THL is one of the ‘old’ players in the China phone game, and you can be fairly sure you’ll get a well built product.
Excerpt: The iOcean X7 is a beautiful looking phone. Anybody who’s followed my blog knows I’m a big fan of square as oppose to the rounded look. The more square the better. Similar to the THL W8 and many other recent MTK phones, the iOcean X7 is available in several configurations.
Huge step up for JiaYu, as they will soon release the JiaYu S1. The JiaYu S1 is clearly an attempt to compete with the big boys such as Xiaomi, Meizu, Samsung and HTC. At least feature wise, this is a very viable option for those looking for something a bit more high-end than what MTK6589T currently offers.
It’s been quite a while since we’ve seen a universal MIUI v5 update. This update along with numerous bug fixes supports Dual-SIM Standby.
