Change official Meizu M3 Note China ROM to Global International firmware corrupt
If you’re trying to root MT6755 Helio P10 Meizu M3 Note and/or change your MT6755 MTK6755 Helio P10 Meizu M3 Note to the International / Global 5.1.3.3G 5.1.3.2G 5.1.3.1G 5.1.3.0G Meizu M3 Note ROM from 5.8.99.0G or from Chinese ROM 5.1.3.1A / 5.1.3.2A / 5.1.3.3A / 5.1.3.4A and you’re getting a “firmware corrupt” notification in recovery, you’ve come to the right guide.

- How to change KingUser to SuperSU root Meizu M3 Note
- How to root Meizu M3 Note
- How to fix “Firmware is too old” when changing ROM on Meizu M3 Note
NOTE: If you’re already on 5.1.3.2G 5.1.3.1G or 5.1.3.0G and want to upgrade to 5.1.3.3G, you only need to follow step 1, 12 and 13.
Depending on where you got your Meizu M3 Note, it may come with a Global vendor ROM (5.8.99.0G), a CN/EN ROM (5.1.x.xA) or a true Global ROM (5.1.x.xG).
In this guide tutorial we’ll teach you how to switch your Meizu M3 Note China ROM to the Global ROM version.
It looks like a lot of steps, but just take it slow, one step at a time and you’ll be done in no time.
NOTE: Before you start, all consequences are on you. This guide has been proven to work and is provided in good faith, however there can be changes to new versions of Meizu ROM firmware or hardware that makes the process impossible, or can brick you. Users on 5.1.3.3A have used this tutorial without issue, however there have been vague reports of people on 5.1.3.3A being bricked by the device ID change script. All at your own risk.
1. Download Global ROM to MT6755 Helio P10 Meizu M3 Note Global
If you haven’t already downloaded 5.1.3.2G (after installing 5.1.3.2G you can OTA to the latest Global ROM), go ahead and do that now while you complete the device ID change. After the ROM is downloaded, rename the ROM to “update.zip” and copy it to the base of your Meizu M3 Note for install through recovery after finishing this tutorial.
Download Meizu Global ROM 5.1.3.2G for Meizu M3 Note
2. Make a Flyme account
The first step for getting the Global ROM onto your MT6755 MTK6755 Helio P10 Meizu M3 Note is to setup a Flyme account. The quickest way to do that is through the net. Click here to go to the Flyme account page (opens in new tab).
3. Login to your Flyme account on your Meizu phone
Once you’ve completed making the account at the Official Flyme Website, on your phone go to Settings > Flyme account. At the top you’ll see a Login/Register button. Go ahead and login with the account you just made at the Official Meizu Website. Remember to use your Flyme account. For example “[email protected]”, not the real email address you used to register at Official Flyme.
4. Turn on Flyme root
After you’ve successfully logged into your Flyme Account on the phone, go back to main Settings > Fingerprint and security. Scroll down to “Root permission” and switch it on. You may need to confirm your Flyme account password.
5. Check with Root Checker
Download ‘Root Checker’ and check if you the root permission dialog is coming up.
- If it comes up, continue to step 7
- If it doesn’t come up, continue to step 6
6. Root Meizu M3 Note with apk
- Download latest KingUser apk. Install and run it.
- You should now see a screen that shows currently root access is unavailable with KingRoot. Tap “Try to root”.
- After completing successfully, you should see this screen.
- If this fails with the apk, then try with the PC root app (click spoiler)
1. Turn on USB debugging
This is the step which allows your PC to communicate with the phone to properly root Meizu M3 Note. Go into Settings > Accessibility > Developer options > switch on USB debugging.
2. Download and install MT6755 Helio P10 Meizu M3 Note adb drivers
If you don’t already have adb drivers installed, go ahead and download the adb driver auto installer for Meizu M3 Note download.
3. Download and install PC root app
- PC root Meizu M3 Note app download
- Click the root button
- After installing, run and plug your phone into your PC via USB. Look at your phone and make sure you allow any permission popups.
7. Download Meizu M3 Note change device ID to Global ROM script
This is the script which will change the device ID of Meizu M3 Note 3. It will convert your Meizu M3 Note to Global / International ID.
- Download Meizu M3 Note device ID changer
- Extract the global.sh file to the base of your Meizu M3 Note internal storage.
8. Download and run terminal emulator from Play
Any terminal emulator should do. We use this one.
9. Gain root permissions for terminal emulator
- In the terminal command window, type “su“. After typing “su“, you should get a popup requesting root permissions for the Terminal Emulator app.
- You should then see a “#” prompt instead of “$“. This means you’re able to execute root level commands.
10. Execute the script to change Meizu M3 Note to Global
- In the terminal emulator window type “sh /storage/emulated/0/global.sh“. Note there is a space after the “sh“.
- Your phone may then reboot to recovery.
11. Flash the Meizu M3 Note Global ROM from recovery
- Boot into recovery if you’re not already there (from Power Off, hold VolUp+Power until logo shows, then let go of Power and wait until recovery shows).
- If you’re not already on the official Global, make sure to select “wipe device” along with “update”. This is because you’re changing to a totally different ROM, not just an incremental update. You can try without “wipe device”, but we recommend to do a “clean” install of the new ROM.
Bam! You’re done. Good job.
12. Reroot the new Meizu M3 Note Global ROM
Thankfully this step is a lot easier than this tutorial, and requires only a few simple steps in the Global ROM 5.1.3.2G. Click here to go to that root guide.

Where can I download the 5.1.3.4G rom from ? the link you provided only has 5.1.3.2G
Mark, my fault. This was to “future proof” the post, but in hindsight, not a great idea. I’ll remove those version #’s until they’re actually released. Currently the latest Global is 5.1.3.2G. Regards.
Thanks Damian, that being said, what is the main repository to get both A and G versions of ROMs. The official Flyme OS doesn’t even have m3 note listed.
They don’t currently list the Meizu M3 Note Global ROM or the Meizu M3 Mini Global ROM at http://www.flymeos.com/firmware.html. But, the main CN China site has the A versions here: http://www.flyme.cn/firmware. Currently the latest CN is 5.1.3.3A.
Thank you
Hi Damian, My friend has an m1 Note can he used the same script to turn allow him to use m1 note global ROMS ? or is this script strictly for m3 note ?
Sorry for late reply Mark, it will be a similar process.
After obtaining root, which should be very easy for this phone. Shouldn’t need to enable any root in settings etc… prior to running Kingroot. Just make sure to enable adb debugging…
Then use this file in the terminal emulator to change ID of Meizu M1 Note to Global / International: http://www.mediafire.com/download/uzpg1nrfu27ufli/chid_M1.sh.zip
Then download and update with latest Global ROM for Meizu M1 Note.
Damian,
there is no Global ROM for Meizu M3 mini.
The only available ROM is the chinese one (with the “Y” on it).
If you update Meizu M3 mini you will lose all language possibiliteis (with the exception of english and chinese)
I’m in 5.1.3.3A version, the guide works the same?
Hello Domenico, yes the guide should work the same. You may be able to skip step 5,6,7 (PC Rooting), because Flyme Settings Root is working fine on 5.1.3.2G, so should be working properly on 5.1.3.3A too.
Make Flyme account, sign into Flyme account, enable root in Flyme Settings, then check root with Root Checker app. Please let me know how this works for you. If it doesn’t work, use steps 5,6,7 too. If still any issue, I will try to guide you further.
Thank you Damian, thank you for all…
Now when I go to write “su” in the terminal says “Connection to ui timed out” how should I do?
If it says that, it means you’re not properly rooted, or you’ve missed the root request from the app, or the app isn’t properly requesting.
Did you run Root Checker yet?
Since I installed kingroot does this problem … What can I do? I’m thinking of resetting the phone
This message “Connection to ui timed out” is normal, if not properly in root mode.
Have you run root checker?
Did Kingroot root Meizu M3 Note successfully?
OK, i have solved, but now when i’m on recovery, the phone say “this firmware is too old”.
ps: sorry for my english but i’m italian…
Now i have another problem, the button don’t work..
omg!!
Hello Domenico, which buttons… Capacitive buttons or physical buttons? Any luck with getting them to work again yet?
I have solved, but now when i’m on recovery, the phone say “this firmware is too old”.
What i have to do ? i’m so nervous about this notification error.
This is because the recovery isn’t allowing you to change to an older kernel than the one you’re on now. It’s nothing to be nervous about. I will try to get back to you with a solution tomorrow. Just relax for now and enjoy the phone.
Thanks Damian , i wait you tomorrow with the solution , I will enjoy the smartphone …
hi Damian Parsons ,do you solve this problem ? the phone say “this firmware is too old”.
Hello Jie, yes Meizu M3 Note “the firmware is too old” error is solved, but please wait until tomorrow. The guide is here: http://www.gizbeat.com/10445/meizu-m3-note-flash-rom-without-losing-root-and-rom-downgrade/
But do not follow it yet. Please wait until tomorrow will have it updated.
Okay, fix Meizu M3 Note “firmware is too old” error in recovery flashing ROM how to guide is now complete. Should be good to go.
excuse for all these questions but it is the only forum that responds to me, I have another problem notifications arrive late enough especially with whatsapp, there is some remedy or appearance international rom?
Don’t worry Domenico. It’s no problem. There are several issues this could be. But let’s try to get you on the Meizu M3 Note Global ROM first.
As stated earlier, the issue is that you’re trying to flash a ROM with an older kernel, so this is why recovery is stopping you.
I’ve tried emailing you twice. Possibly my emails are going to your spam. You can add me on Skype: upintheclub.
Damian, Is it me or it seems like to overcome the so-called warming issue of the phone, they limited charging rate which was already bad due to the fact this phone has no fast charging.
20% to 60% taking 5 hours sometimes.. using different chargers
Hello Mark, this is very possible. There was never a charge that took this long for us, but we did have one of our charges take 4 hours. Have you tried in an aircon room, cooler ambient temps to see if it’s charging regularly? We found the phone does have quick charging in cool temps (2-2.5 hours for 4000mAh batter is quick charging).
The 5.1.3.2 is the latest international fw?
What’s the changelog about 5.1.3.1 G?
Can i do this update if i already have 5.1.3.1 G?
Thanks a lot
Hello Joy, yes you can easily upgrade to 5.1.3.2G.
Hi. Where can I find the base of my phone? I can’t find the root folder.
So when I am on recovery, then ticked the box for update and wipe, phone says, no update.zip found.
Have you renamed it “update.zip”? The base of the phone is the top of your phone’s internal storage. You should see some folders such as “DCIM” and “Android”.
Yeah. I was finally able to change the ID to international. But now my problem is the “too old” error. I am trying to follow the instructions now. Hope I am lucky.
Does this tutorial works for meizu m3s as well?
Thanks in advance
This tutorial should work the same way for Global International Meizu M3S, but will need a different ‘sh’ file. The ID changer script is for Meizu M3 Note only.
Perfect, thanks.
Do you have any hint on how I should modify the .sh script, or the part of it I should be looking at?
Hi, can you make a sh working for m3s?
It works if I come rom 5.1.3.4A ????
Damian, Has the 5.1.3.4G ROM been released yet ? There is a release of upto 5.1.3.5A now and im still stuck on 5.1.3.2G.
can I reverse to A after this mod ?
Have you tried OTA to 5.1.3.4G? I haven’t tried reversing to A, so can’t answer you there. I think should be able to do it through FlashFire tutorial at least. Maybe through regular recovery as well. Not difficult to try, just download 5.1.3.5A, rename it to “update.zip” and boot to recovery and give it a go. If it doesn’t work, use FlashFire guide.
Here is Meizu M3 Note 5.1.3.3G: https://cloud.mail.ru/public/L3wy/WzBjEqjm4
Let us know what you try and how it works out for you.
Sorry for the late reply. I actually have downloaded the 5.6.8.2A beta on the M3 Note. It updated without a hitch.
Its such a shame though, the G version was clean, light and just had google play services running the way it was supposed to be running.
Btw, My biggest, biggest nuisance with this phone is the very low volume through headphones when on a phone call, its really low compared to the max volume the phone can produce through headphones when playing music for instance.
Can I use a different dialer or some other modification ?
hello my phone 5.1.3.3a how i can change with 5.1.3.3G i cant do.. i do root but i cant change rom

problem solved.watch this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-HLL9cdy9o
first you send me a video.for.meizu m2.and i already specified i.use global rom version.but i found the solution. You have to insert sim card slot 1 and after activate the internet on that sim. Next open any google app and connect with your accont. Then will work on wifi also.

Can you make a post of converting meizu m3s china to global ?
Hi Damian
I followed all the steps mentioned, when it went up to recovery level it said firmware could not be found. I have put the firmware (update.zip) in the root of the storage.
Any help would be appreciated.
thank you
Kenneth
My phone says the firmware is too old, what can I do?
Hi Damian
My M3 Note has the original Chinese firmware 5.1.3.6A. I followed your instruction, but when it came to new firmware checking it says it’s too old (actually it is 5.1.3.3G), so what should I do?
I tried to use FlashFire, but it says no root access…
Do I have to downgrade the Chinese version to something like 5.1.3.1A perhaps? How to do it? thanks.

Hi Experts,
Need help in downgrading the Chinese version 5.1.3.6A to a lower Global version for my M3NOTE.
Regards,
Madhusudan.R
same case with me. Try to downgrade 5.1.10.0A to 5.1.3.4G firmware, it show firmware too old…
I did some research and found it is possible only if we root the chinese version, but unfortunately rooting is not yet available for 5.1.3.6A or 5.1.10.0A which i tried with KINGROOT and my request is in queue for rooting strategy.
Once rooting is available we need to install Super-Sume Pro after which we will able to downgrade from Version A to Version g……..
hey i rooted the 5.1.3.6A with kingroot, later replaced it with superSU then installed the flashfire and i tried to update the Global version, its not at all updating, it remains with chinese version………
Experts your help required plsssssssss…
Is it possible to install custom recovery on meizu m3 note. If possible plz give steps..
