MediaTek / MTK To Reduce Prices!
In order to make tougher competition for Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon S4 line, MediaTek / MTK has reduced their MTK MT6577 / MTK6577 costs to manufacturers by 10%.
As I’ve posted several times over the last couple months, MediTek is gunning for the throne. From releasing equivalent CPUs at half the cost of the competition, to quadrupling their CPU speed and core count in 2 years time (from single-core 416Mhz in the MTK6516 to four-core 1.5Ghz+ in the MTK MT6589 / MTK6589) – MediaTek / MTK is taking a no holds bar approach to getting to the top.
The latest exciting news from MediaTek / MTK is their planned mega union with Taiwanese giants HTC, Asus and Acer. Very much looking forward to seeing what this team will come up with.
On a side note, that none of us will lament, the MTK6573 is scheduled to be discontinued.
