NOTE: This assumes you are starting fresh, or willing to start fresh with a new Flashable ROM and that you’ve already got it downloaded and extracted.

If you’ve already got a ROM installed and don’t want to reflash the entire ROM, you can attempt to just flash over the recovery and UBOOT/LK.BIN from steps 2 and 3 and clicking ‘Download’. This can be done by selecting the scatter file from your extracted ROM and then deselecting everything and pointing the “recovery” and “uboot” to the files from steps 2 and 3.

However, this sometimes will result in an error and in that case, you can try again with the “preloader” file from your ROM selected as well. If you’re still getting an error, just reflash the entire ROM following all steps below.

2b. For CWM (clockworkmod recovery), download the CWM recovery and extract it inside the folder of your already extracted SP Flashable ROM. Write over the existing file.

3. Download the LK.BIN UBOOT file and extract it inside the folder of your already extracted SP Flashable ROM. Write over the existing file.
4. Download and copy the superuser zip to the external SD on the phone
5. Download, extract and run MTK6589 SP Flash Tool and load the scatter file from your downloaded ROM
6. Turn Off Phone, pull out the battery for 5 seconds and put it back in
7. Click ‘Upgrade Firmware’ on Flash Tools

10. Boot into recovery by holding vol+ and power together
11. Select ‘update from SD’
12. Navigate to the previously copied superuser zip and select it
13. Reboot and verify root

Gizbeat won’t be held responsible if your phone bricks or dies. You attempt at your own risk.
