Lately, it has been Doogee and iNew taking center stage and battling it out model to model. Meanwhile, Zopo has been keeping a low profile, but they are certainly not moving over – on the contrary, they are moving in.

Zopo spreading out

Zopo phones have begun emerging in Philippine retail stores, starting with their more popular models, ZP980 and ZP998. I doubt it is far-fetched to expect to see a Zopo store crop up soon. It is quite easy to appreciate Zopo’s gameplay: stabilizing their brand with local support and consistent updates, and very subtly spreading out – they started with their UK store, rumors of entering US, and now showing action in parts of South East Asia.

Zopo 9530

And talking about movement from Zopo, it turns out they are starting to reel out more of their 4G’s. They are bringing out an update to their previous 9520 model, and will be designated as Zopo 9530.

Rearding aesthetics, there doesn’t seem to be much difference between the 9520 and the upgraded 9530. Its form factor remains the same at 151.4 x 76.1 x 9.1 mm3, has the same rounded corners, and rounded edges on the back. The textured back shell, as well as the placing of the camera and LED flash is kept as is.

The 9530 has an MT6592 chipset clocked at 1.7GHz with a Mali-450MP GPU driving a 5.5” 1080p LCD screen. Memory specifications are also the same as the 9520, with 2GB of RAM, and 16GB internal storage.

Zopo 9530 LTE Support

It seems that the main focus of the upgrade of the model is the 4G capability. The 9530 will employ an MT6290 LTE modem, providing support for TD-LTE networks in addition to GSM, and TD-SCDMA. Of course, it will be a KitKat phone – running Android v4.4.2.

Zopo has also hinted at upping the audio, video performance and WiFi functionality.

Hopefully, Zopo will surprise us with some other surprises to stay in the game with Doogee and iNew. For now, we will just have to wait and see.
