Both great looking phones, but I think I’ll take the JiaYu g3 if given the choice. Now, what’s great is that they BOTH have 1gb RAM and the mtk mt6577 / mtk6577. So performance wise there shouldn’t be much of a difference. JiaYu has a significantly better screen, and it’s larger as well. (more…)

The inflatable seat belt will save more lives
I live in a place where 70% of people on the road don’t wear seat belts. It’s also no problem to go blazing by a cop, in a school zone in a small town with kids everywhere at 100mph, and the cop doesn’t even bat an eye.
Well, I’m drifting off the topic aren’t I…Let’s get to it, inflatable seat belts! They’re mainly being developed to help the elderly and children who might be more prone to shoulder and chest injury. They first showed up in the 2011 Ford Explorer which earned a top safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. (more…)

JiaYu g3 mtk6577 release date confirmed!
Well, just as I was finishing up the previous JiaYu g3 article, the news came through that the JiaYu g3 will be released on September 5th! Only 2 days away from the time of this posting.
So you will be able to purchase the JiaYu g3 officially on September 5th, but there seems a slight hitch. We can’t 100% confirm this, but it LOOKS like the accessories will be purchased in addition to the phone. The prices listed are: (more…)

JiaYu G3 mtk6577 Dual-core, Dual-sim 1gb RAM, ICS China phone almost released!
What’s not to love? Well, the wait time for the JiaYu G3 to actually be released is one thing not to love. It seems like it’s just one thing after another. From the issues with getting the proper licensing in China, to problems with the camera and LCD quality.
Though perhaps we should be glad. Much better for them to get things right than to release a shoddy product, wouldn’t you say? Well, let’s get on with the specs: (more…)

Not Close To A Solution For Fast Battery Charging In Electric Vehicles
Though fast charging technology exists to make electronic vehicles practical (currently a 30 min charge can fuel the Tesla S Sedan for 150+ miles), automobile makers refuse to settle on a standard. Something like the war between VHS and Beta if you’re old enough to remember that one. (more…)

Megapixel Tech in televisions 84″ and under reaching it’s peak – ‘4k’ (8mp)
While hard drives will always get bigger and processors continue to get faster, there’s one aspect of technology that may not improve much – The amount of Megapixels in LCD’s. 84″ TV’s with 8mp, or “4k” (which stands for 4 x 1080hd) are now being released by the hardware giants – Sony, Toshiba, LG.
While on these huge LCD’s you can discern the pixels at 3 feet distance, nobody is going to be watching an 84″ television from 3 feet away, (more…)

Sony Xperia Sola phone can be used without touching the screen
The new Sony Xperia Sola has the tech to be used with your finger floating above the LCD as opposed to actually touching it. There is a demo below. For the most part, this seems like silly technology. I, for one, like the feel of my finger gliding over the glass.
Though, let’s take a closer look… From this video (below), it doesn’t look nearly sensitive or quick enough, but if the technology were to improve, I could envision it being used with gaming. (more…)

Ultimate Gizmo Bicycle Tech Blast From The Past!
While surfing around this morning, I came across an amazing contraption – A nearly 300lb bicycle full of technology. What’s most interesting is this bike was built circa 1980’s. Mr. Steven Roberts became sick and bored of the typical suburban lifestyle, and decided to radically change is life.
One key-point is that Mr. Steven Roberts realized that he wasn’t getting much writing done because he was spending most of his time peddling. This is a good portion of his livelhood, so he decided to implement a BINARY TYPING SYSTEM. (more…)

Is 5″ too big?
Seems only last year that 4″ was considered too big by some. The king of the pack, the iPhone was at 3.5″. Fast-forward a short time, and 4″ is considered SMALL by many (okay, let’s keep our minds on mobile phones)… Now it seems difficult to find any new releases with anything smaller than 4″, with most Android phones coming out even bigger.
This comes as no surprise. People are increasingly using their phones for a multitude of things besides texting and calling. From watching 720p movies, to connecting them to bluetooth with a mouse and keyboard and being used more or less as a full fledged PC, to playing 3d FPS games. (more…)

Sharp showcases new LCD technology which may replace “Retina”
“Retina” displays could soon be considered out-dated technology thanks to Sharp’s new IGZO tech.
The transistors in Sharp’s new LCD’s are made from indium, gallium and zinc oxide alloys which enables panels to be more transparent. Thus, less energy will be required to come through the transistors and make it to our eyes.
How much less? It’s a good question, and the answer is 25-40% when compared to conventional LCD’s. (more…)

Zopo zp300+ Dual-Core Dual-Sim China phone with mtk6577 released
Just the last month or so, phones with the mtk mt6577 / mtk6577 dual-core CPU have started to be released. Zopo looked like they were a bit behind the curve because their new smartphones had the older gen mtk6755. Which still is a fine CPU, but with the MTK MT6589 / MTK6589 quad-core right around the corner, you don’t want to look decidedly low tech with your single core CPU do you?
Well, Zopo is well aware and made the changes to suit. Their zp300 has a been upgraded to zp300+ with mtk mt6577 / mtk6577 dual-core. Excellent news for the consumer!
