I’ve recently reviewed several Mlais phones and found them to be generally solid budget choices. Mlais has been in the game longer than most current popular China brands and have a fairly strong following in China. (more…)

Mlais M4 review MT6732 2GB 16GB
Mlais is one of the older China brands, well loved in China, and usually putting out good budget phones. Recently I reviewed the sub-$100 MT6592 M9 which I thought was an excellent buy for the price, and the M52, which is a powerful bargain-priced phone. Now up is the M4, nicknamed ominously — Ironbone. Mlais to release 2 new budget models
New M7 images from Mlais. Looks to have similar type fingerprint reader as the Elephone P7000.
Mlais is one of the older brands making China phones. While not so well known to the West prior to the Mlais M52 release, they are well known to budget phone lovers in China.
The Mlais M52 was a successful launch for the company, and while the battery life could be a bit better, for the price the phone was a winner. What I really liked about that phone was that they stuck with 720P.
They also launched the Mlais M9, a budget MT6592 SoC phone that retailed for $90. This too was a winner for those looking for an ultra budget phone.
Not content to sit on their heals, and in addition to the Mlais M4, Mlais will also be releasing two new models — the Mlais M7 and Mlais MX.
Mlais M7 details:
- MT6752 [email protected]
- 5.5″@720P OGS IPS display
- 3GB RAM
- 16GB storage
- Touch finger print reader
- 5MP front/13MP Sony IMX135 rear camera
- Android 5.0 out of the box
- 2600mAh removable battery
- 3G WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100
- 4G FDD-LTE: B1/3/7/20 (800/1800/2100/2600)
- 149.5*76.8*8.6MM (L*W*H)
I really like what Mlais is doing here with the 720P in an otherwise highly specced phone. This keeps cost and heat down, and significantly improves battery life. Very much looking forward to giving the M7 a review to see if it can improve upon the already quite good Mlais M52.
Mlais MX details:
- [email protected] CPU
- 5.0″@720P OGS IPS display
- 2GB RAM
- 16GB Storage
- 4800mAh *removable* battery
- 13MP rear / 8MP front cameras
- 3G WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100
- 4G: FDD-LTE: B1/3/7/20 (800/1800/2100/2600)
- 4G: TDD-LTE:B40(2300-2400MHz)
- 145.8*71.5*9.9 mm (L*W*H)
07-MAY-2015: New specs added and some adjustments made to the specs. Dimensions and frequency support have been added.
Notably, the M7 is now scheduled to have a Sony IMX135 13MP rear camera and the MX will have the MT6735 (not MT6732 as previously reported).
Most interesting for me is that the MX will have a *removable* 4800mAh battery. I’ve been looking for a replacement for the THL 4000. While it’s been a great phone for me over the last six months, something with a bit more oomph would be very welcome. I still feel the MT6582 is a fine SoC, but stepping up into some higher specs should be fun.
I’ve also added the latest images. These appear to be mock-ups, but well represent what the end product will look like.
According to Mlais, the pre-sale price of the Mlais M7 will be $190, and for the MX, $140. Both these phones look like they may end up winners. I’ll be looking hard at the MX as my replacement main mobile due to the 5.0″ display, 720P resolution and huge battery.

Mlais M52 Red Note 2GB MT6752 Review / Powerful budget mobile
Mlais is one of the lesser China known brands in comparison to iNew, Doogee, Elephone etc… This is mostly because up until the ultra cheap MT6592 Mlais M9 (opens in new tab), they almost exclusively marketed only to Chinese users. It seems they’ve now seen the light and are beginning to focus on the Western market. (more…)

MLAIS M9 Review – $86 MT6592M 1GB RAM OTG OGS
MLAIS is one of the older China phone brands. They have a good name in China and a loyal following, but have done very little marketing and promotion outside of China.
With the M9, MLAIS has come with an interesting phone — a thin, sub-$100 mobile with an MT6592M SoC. (more…)

Picture War Review 2! Buffalo Mountain – iNew v3 vs Zopo zp980+ vs H9008
A couple days ago we posted our first photo war between these three phones. We’ve taken a few new pics. This time of a very nice scene including some buffaloes and mountains. I told them to stay still, but they refused to listen. All of the shot have been hit with a Picasa auto-contrast. Other than that they were unedited. (more…)

MT6592 Hero Star H9008 Review – Part 1 (GPS / LCD / WiFi / General Impressions)
Recently we received the Hero Star H9008 MT6592. We decided to review this phone because of quad-band WCDMA inclusion.
We’re surprised this gem hasn’t garnered more attention, but at least some of you out there can understand our excitement over a phone with quad-band WCDMA. I haven’t lived in America for over 7 years, but I still am giddy over this new phone released by Mlais and Hero / Star. This is truly a ‘day’ that will go down in China brand history. The first MTK China brand with quad-band WCDMA. It doesn’t hurt that the H9008 is well built and solid, with a crisp, bright LCD, very strong WiFi, and quick GPS. (more…)

Will MTK6592 China Phones Work In America and Europe?
Since writing my last preview of MT6592 THL T100 Monkey King 2 / Iron Man, the shops have changed their tune and are now including 850MHz WCDMA / UMTS in the specs of the T100. Some are now even showing 1900MHz WCDMA. The MT6592 Mlais MX69 Pro is showing quad-band WCDMA (850/900/1900/2100) on shop sites and on the Mlais official page as well. Is it too good to be true? A China MTK phone with both of the major American frequencies? (more…)

We recently made a preview of the Mlais MX69 Pro – an MT6592 8-core phone. Now they’ve announced a budget phone – Mlais MX28. Sooner or later Mlais was bound to jump on the MTK6582 bandwagon and we think it’s a great decision. (more…)
